Empowering the Heart, Inspiring the Mind

A synthesis of Bhakti and Gyana yoga

With Swami SatyaDaya, Swami Krishnaprem & Tulsi

At its heart, Yoga is practised to catalyse the process of our awakening, as embodied beings, to the deeper mystery that lies at the heart of all creation. As an essential part of this process Yoga also brings the many different aspects of our being into harmony.

About This Retreat

The times in which we live can challenge our sense of Self and our ability to cope with the stresses of daily life. This course will explore practices that help us to cope with these challenges whilst also offering an insight into our deeper nature and into that which lies behind all experiences. Finding this inspiration is key to living a creative and joyful life. During this course, we explore, through reflection and meditation, some of the inspiring teachings of key yogic texts, such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads. Enquiry and meditation using these texts can play a key role in both the paths of Gyana and Bhakti Yoga. These teachings will be illuminated in such a way as to make them accessible and relevant to our daily life.

We will also explore the mystery of the heart. Due to our life experiences, issues of the heart are often neglected: we deny our feelings and defend our heart, often for good reasons. However, in the course of time, this defence can become habitual and rigid, preventing us from living full and meaningful lives. Throughout this course we will work with yoga practices that not only nurture and free the heart, but also empower it in the service of all Life.
