About This Workshop

The spontaneous nature of breath provides the foundation for the profound practice of Ajapa Japa.

The ancient practice of Ajapa Japa is referenced in the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads and was systemised by Swami Satyananda into an accessible practice integrating breath, mantra, psychic pathways and mudra. The practice is easy to learn, yet creates the potential for experiencing infinite depths of experience.

When we become increasingly aware of the natural breath, the breath becomes more balanced and the mind more focused. From that still place, we can begin to discover the mantra contained within the breath. So Hum.
So Hum - I am Consciousness. With regular practice of Ajapa Japa, the daily dross within the mind begins to clear and So Hum becomes the mantra to our lived experience. A continous reminder of Who and What we are as our essential nature.

In this workshop, we will work with a few simple asana before moving into the different aspects of Ajapa Japa. Although traditionally a seated practice, there will be an opportunity to engage in aspects of the practice from lying. You are also welcome to use a chair if that is more accessible for you.
