The Challenge of Compassion
With Swami SatyaDaya
"If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.”
― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
This morning will focus on practices that open the heart towards compassion - both towards self and others.
Sunday 19th November| £35
Free of charge for Ashram Sangha members.
About This Workshop
We live in complicated and turbulent times and can be troubled by our own feelings and emotions related to events unfolding in our own lives and in the world around us. We will work with practices that allow us to meet these experiences compassionately and create the possibility of making peace with the turbulence within. This in turn deepens our capacity to meet this in others. Part of this process will involve the practice of forgiveness.
Even more challenging, and yet truly essential, is the process of the opening our hearts to those with whom which we may not choose to side. We will challenge ourselves to acknowledge the pain and the wound of those that it may be easy to assume or judge as the problem. Part of our practice will involve what could be described as acts of pray for all of those suffering and in turmoil - regardless of what side of an argument they may be on.
