More about the retreat
Through practical techniques of meditation, asana, free movement and simple self-inquiry, we return again and again to our own lived experience — discovering the stillness that underlies every movement and the aliveness that breathes within every moment of rest.
The course brings three days of sharing, always from a standpoint of simplicity. Through guided meditation, asana, free movement, embodied awareness, and simple self-inquiry, we encourage each other to let go of ‘spiritual’ goals and ambitions, learning to relax into the stillness that underlies all experience.
Alongside Narada’s sharing of ideas and methods of exploration into Awareness and the nature of Self, AnandaDevi brings a grounded, earthy, feminine presence to the course.
Her approach invites a descent into the body — into breath, sensation, and the natural intelligence of the nervous system. We explore stillness not as an abstract idea, but as something we can feel, something that arises when the body softens, the breath moves freely, and we allow ourselves to be held by gravity.
Through gentle somatic movement, embodied meditation, and intuitive free flow, Ananda Devi offers ways to:
- Root awareness in the body and breath
- Feel stillness within movement
- Awaken the receptive, intuitive qualities of presence
- Balance structure with spontaneity
- Let meditation arise naturally, through softness and listening rather than effort
This embodied approach complements and deepens the inquiry, giving participants a lived, felt sense of stillness that supports Narada’s approach to experiencing the underlying stillness that is a quality of Conscious Presence….
… When you sit to meditate do you feel stillness or ‘Inner calm’? Perhaps you describe 'feeling spacious' or the 'world slows down'.
Maybe you don’t have to sit in meditation. Maybe you are walking in a meadow and the beauty suddenly takes on an ethereal still quality… a moment out of time… time stops still. Breathless Awareness.
Or in the middle of an airport, or busy street, or supermarket, suddenly the hustle and bustle is happening on a backdrop of stillness. Ever had moments like that?
How to listen to the silent call of Awareness? How to recognise that the Self may not be the body/mind/ego as we have been conditioned to believe?
