About This Course

The Vigyana Bhairava Tantra is believed to have been written about one thousand years ago in Kashmir, in the Himalayan region of present-day north-western India and norther Pakistan. The original text gives 112 unique and profound practices called dharanas (lit., 'focusing of attention in the present moment).

Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati, founder of Mandala Yoga Ashram, has written a modern translation and commentary on this text in which he gives a freely-rendered translation of all the dharanas. These enable the practitioner to become more aware and more in-touch with the present moment, an opportunity of practising 'awareness' in our daily lives. Essentially, this opens us up to insight and helps to bring a deeper quality into our lives.

In this course, Swami Nishchalananda presents 7 of these dharanas together with guided practices. These were recorded live during one of the Ashram's Vigyana Bhairava Tantra courses. The practices are especially suited to those Yoga practitioners who have some previous experience in meditation. However, they may also be useful for those who are relatively new to such practices.

We feel that the teachings and practices of the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra, although ancient, are very valid for this present era of fast-paced modern living.

The course can be streamed online or dowloaded for use offline.
